About
We started because the advice was all over the place
Five years of professional grooming, three salons in Poland, a team in Edinburgh — and a website that tries to be the resource we wish existed when we were starting out.
Our approach
We separated home care from professional grooming deliberately
The internet mixes these two things constantly. An article starts with brushing tips and ends with a booking link. A guide for at-home nail trimming spends half its time explaining why you should just hire someone. It's confusing and often not honest about where the line is.
We built this site on a simple rule: home grooming content stays in the home grooming track. Professional service content stays in the services track. We don't push one into the other.
If your dog's coat is manageable at home, we'll tell you that clearly and show you how. If the coat type or situation actually requires a professional, we'll tell you that too — without softening it or overselling it.
Background
Five years, two countries, one straightforward goal
Scissors & Bubbles was founded in 2020 in Edinburgh. We're accredited groomers — City & Guilds Level 3 certified and members of the British Dog Groomers' Association. That background shapes how we write: the guides here are written by people who have done the work, not by content teams working from research documents.
We currently run three salons in Poland (Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław) and offer at-home grooming visits in Edinburgh. The online consultation service is available to anyone, regardless of location.
The team
Who writes and grooms here
Nora Dempsey
Lead Groomer & Co-founder
Nora trained at the Edinburgh School of Dog Grooming and holds a City & Guilds Level 3 qualification. She has been grooming professionally since 2018 and specialises in double-coated breeds and anxious animals. She writes the breed-specific guides and most of the home care content on this site.
Piotr Kalinowski
Salon Director, Poland
Piotr oversees operations across the three Polish salons. He trained in Warsaw and has a background in veterinary nursing before moving into grooming full-time in 2017. He contributes the cat grooming content and reviews all health-related information on the site.
Anna Wierzbicka
Senior Groomer & Content Reviewer
Anna works across the Edinburgh location and online consultations. She has particular experience with toy breeds and coat condition issues. Anna reviews all quiz outputs and service recommendations before they go live to make sure the advice is accurate and not misleading.
Editorial policy
How we handle information and affiliate links
All guides on this site are written or reviewed by qualified groomers with hands-on experience. We don't publish health or medical claims without a source. If a guide references a study or professional recommendation, we link to it.
Some articles and quizzes contain affiliate links to grooming tools and products. Where that's the case, we note it clearly at the top of the page. Affiliate relationships don't change what we recommend — we only link to products we would actually suggest to a client.
We update guides when the underlying information changes. The date at the top of each article reflects the most recent review.
